Sleep and exercise go hand in hand. Working out helps you improve the quality of your sleep, and sleeping helps you improve the quality of your workouts! With this in mind, here are some tips on how to get to sleep, and stay asleep.

Leave your phone and computer alone for the last half hour before you go to bed. As much as you may want to scroll through social media or check your emails late at night, the bright screens will wake you up, and important messages may get your mind racing.

Create the perfect sleeping environment. Blocking out any light or noise will help you get to sleep faster. Closing the shades, turning on a white noise machine, or changing the AC may make a world of a difference.

Stay away from sleeping pills. If you start using meds to get you through more difficult nights, you may start relying on them, and need them every night. Try as many sleeping tips as you can before trying sleeping meds.

Keep naps out of your routine. Save naps for when you're unusually tired, don't use it as a part of your routine.

Stay consistent with your sleep schedule. Going to bed and waking up at approximately the same time each day will help you get to sleep faster, and stay asleep.

Speak to a doctor! Listen to your body. If you really can’t get to sleep and it’s affecting your life during the day it may be time to get help from a professional.
